Pine Island Cottage, Canada, by\u00a0Bureau Tempo and Thom Fougere<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Canadian studios Bureau Tempo and Thom Fougere sought to create a feeling of being exposed to the elements with the interiors of Pine Island Cottage, a holiday home<\/a> in Georgian Bay,\u00a0Ontario<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the main bedroom’s ensuite, a freestanding ceramic bathtub sits next to a full-height window looking out into the surrounding forest, while fieldstone walls and flooring made from locally sourced Erasoma stone enhance the sense of bathing in nature.<\/p>\n

Casa Quinto Sol, Mexico, by Estudio Cristina Grappin<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This freestanding bath also looks through a full-height window onto forest \u2013 albeit in a more tropical setting. It sits in Casa Quinto Sol, a sprawling residence near the Pacific Ocean in Mexico<\/a>‘s Punta Mita.<\/p>\n

The tub has a subtly organic shape, softening the grey marble floors in combination with wooden bathroom furniture.<\/p>\n

Eaton Square townhouse, UK, by Child Studio<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Child Studio<\/a> came up with a suitably rich bathtub design for this opulent home in London’s ultra-prime Belgravia neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

The bath, like the sink, is built in, made from emerald-green Verde Guatemala marble that cascades across the floors and up the walls. It was carved by a marble workshop in northern Italy and inspired by the modernist mansion Villa Serralves<\/a> in Porto.<\/p>\n

Softie, USA, by OPA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The bathroom inside this San Francisco<\/a> house has a decidedly dreamlike quality, thanks to its complete absence of colour and serenely curving walls and ceilings.<\/p>\n

A rounded nook accommodates the circular bathtub, stationed next to a blobby, translucent window.<\/p>\n

As part of an extension<\/a> and refurbishment of\u00a0a heritage-listed building in Sydney<\/a>, architecture studio Atelier Dau added a ground floor bathroom.<\/p>\n

The bathroom is defined by\u00a0porcelain floor tiles designed by Patricia Urquiola<\/a>\u00a0and a statement roll-top bath alongside a narrow window with views to the home’s internal courtyard.<\/p>\n

Highgate house, London, UK, by House of Grey<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This London home<\/a> designed by interiors studio House of Grey incorporates a range of natural materials and finishes.<\/p>\n

In the bathroom, the walls were coated with a lime-based plaster surface called Tadelakt, which is waterproofed using a soap solution. The bath and sink were made from a combination of sands, unfired clays, pigments and minerals.<\/p>\n

Czech studios Formafatal<\/a> and Refuel Works left the concrete structure exposed throughout\u00a0this villa nestled into the jungle in Costa Rica<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the master bedroom, a concrete tub is set alongside a pair of glass doors that allow the space to be opened up to the surrounding jungle.<\/p>\n

All of the house’s bathrooms feature graphic monochromatic tiled floors, while the master bathroom has its own fireplace and a freestanding jet-black tub.<\/p>\n

Its centrepiece, aligned with the apex of the pitched ceiling, is\u00a0an oval, freestanding bathtub.<\/p>\n

Positioned against a large window that has views across London, the bath was made from\u00a0waxed teak by furniture maker William Garvey.<\/p>\n

On the ground floor, which is embedded into the hillside, there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, including the master en-suite that features a copper<\/a> bathtub.<\/p>\n
